Primary Residence of: Corren, Mara, and Thalia Wren
The Wren farmhouse is a weathered but functional home near the south east side of the property. Built from hand-cut timber with a stone floor and chimney, it's modest and utilitarian. The medium sized cart in front is used for everything from hauling grain to town and supplies back home, it's serves as the families main form of transportion.
The house has stood for almost 3 decades, sheltering the family through storms, seasons, and hardship. It's the first thing Stellan sees every morning from his shack and the last thing he looks back on when he's forced to leave it all behind.
Primary Use: Storage, supplies, cart gear, and temporary sleeping space
The Wren barn is old but solid, made from the same pine and stone as the house. Its loft is cold, drafty, and uninviting , but it's where Stellan finds himself after being cast out by Corren. The doors are often left ajar to vent the heat in summer, and the structure creaks in the wind.
Armor, farming tools, and old harness gear hang in the shadows of the loft, including remnants from Stellan’s family. More than just a storage space, it becomes a symbol of isolation, but also of quiet resilience.
Function: Livestock and animal care, cart prep, and storage yard
The Wren family stable sits at the center of the property between the farm plots, not far from the forest line. It’s a functional structure with aged pine siding and an adjacent clearing where carts are prepped and animals are harnessed. The fencing is well-used, and the ground in front of the stable is packed with years of use.
This is where Stellan and Thalia prep for their town supply run in Chapter 2 — and where the day's mood often takes shape. Quiet arguments, awkward silences, and occasional laughter all begin here with the snap of harness leather and the creak of wagon wheels.
Function: Living quarters assigned to Stellan Lillegard
This small structure sits apart from the main house, tucked next to the stable, modest in build, and humble by any measure. It has been Stellan’s home for over sixteen years. Built originally as a supply space, it now holds his bed, armor satchel, and the little privacy he’s allowed.
Though never officially spoken of as exile, its location and condition quietly reinforce what Stellan has felt most of his life. Even though Mara and Thalia want it to be otherwise. He is cared for, but not truly family. The deeper reasons behind that divide become clear only later in the story.
Location: North West end of the Wren property
A nagging reminder of what was.
This was once the staff house, meant to be rebuilt, but never touched again. The timber is blackened and roof collapsed. The soil is dry. Two small markers rest just at the tree line if you look closely enough.
Most on the farm avoid this place. Stellan holds a stiff upper lip and still works the land here. Corren says, “That land isn’t going to till itself.” It’s not somewhere he enjoys working, but it keeps him grounded. He sometimes wonders if there's a reason why Corren hasn't torn the old cabin down or rebuilt it.
“Some reminders never go away.”
— Stellan
Location: North Eastern meadows
This section of fencing was knocked loose by wandering cattle and is awaiting repair. It's not uncommon, but it always pulls Stellan’s attention. Fixing it is one of the few tasks he tries to handle without being asked, but Corren usually ends up asking before he can get to it. It like the guy is psychic!
Sometimes, he lingers here longer than he should — watching the woods, listening to wind in the trees, and thinking if his life would have been different if his parents were still here.
Location: Western edge of the Wren property
This tree line marks the border between the Wren family farm and the untamed land beyond. It’s where Stellan and Thalia prep for their hunting trips, checking gear, adjusting bowstrings, packing the horse. Sometimes they talk. Sometimes they don’t.
The woods are familiar, but not comforting. The trees crowd close, and the light shifts too quickly beneath the canopy. Everyone in Summervale knows to be cautious this deep into the western edge. But for the Wrens, it’s just another day’s work… until it isn’t.
